2019 Scholar Athlete Awards

Region 1:

Alexander Simet, Towson High School

6-0, 215, RB/LB

A first team All-County and All-League selection, this team captain ranks in the Top 10% of his class and is a member of the National Honor Society. An AP Scholar, he also plays baseball and is a member of Model UN.

Region 2:

Alexander Gresock, Havre De Grace High School

6-1, 190, QB/LB

A first team All-County pick and team MVP, this team captain ranks in the Top 5% of his class and is a member of the National Honor Society. He also plays baseball, is a member of the band and FCA.

Region 3:

Wande Owens, Glenelg High School

6-0, 185, RB/DB

Twice selected as the Howard County Offensive Player of the year, the County’s All-Time leading rusher was a team captain and ranks in the Top 20%. Wande is a member of several national honor societies, plays basketball and runs track. He will play football for Yale University this fall

Region 4:

Justin Pellicciotti, Liberty High School

5-10, 165, WR/DB

Twice voted first team All-County, this team captain is a Top 10% student and is a member of the National Honor Society. He also plays basketball and is a member of the student government.

Region 5:

Jacob Tribull, St Mary’s High School

6-0, 230, RB/LB

Voted first team All- Conference and second team All-County, this team captain ranks in the Top 5% of his class and is the presi¬dent of the National Honor Society. Jacob is also on the track team and scored a perfect 800 on the Math SAT.

Regions & Schools

These scholar-athletes, representing football-playing high schools in the Baltimore metropolitan area, are selected by theirrespective schools primarily for their ability on the football field and in the classroom. Other factors taken into consideration include extracurricular activities, leadership, and community and church activities.

Every football-playing high school in Baltimore City and Anne Arundel, Harford, Howard, Carroll and Frederick Counties is invited to submit a nominee who best fits the aforementioned qualifications.

The Chapter’s selection committee, after careful consideration of each athlete’s qualifications, will choose one individual from our five regions, who will each receive $4,000 in scholarship support for his college education.
