2021 Scholar Athlete Awards

Region 1:

Keith Foster, Jr., Forest Park Foresters

The team MVP and first teams All-Conference selection, this team captain ranks in the Top 5% of his class, plays basketball, is President of the Debate Team and member of the Drama Club. He will play football for Union College this fall.

Region 2:

Jermaine Gilliam, Jr., Mergenthaler Mustangs

Voted second team All-State and All-Metro, this team captain ranks number three in his class and is a member of the National Honor Society. He also plays tennis, runs track, is on the wrestling team and a member of the Chess Club. He will play football at Frostburg this fall.

Region 3:

Drew Ross, Marriotts Ridge Mustangs

A first team All-County selection and Super 22 nominee, this team captain ranks in the Top 5% of his class and is a member of the National and Spanish Honor Societies. He also plays baseball and is President of the Red Cross Club. He will play football for MIT this fall.

Region 4:

Kadin Fisher, Middletown Knights

A second team All-Area player last season, this team captain ranks number two in his class and is a member of several national honor societies. An AP Scholar, he also wrestles and is an All-County Jazz Band member.

Region 5:

William Oliver, Severn Admirals

An All-League selection and McCormick Unsung hero nominee, Will ranks in the Top 5% and is a member of several National Honor Societies. A National Merit Semi-Finalist, he also plays lacrosse, is on the swim team, is the Student Council President and member of the Jazz Band.

Regions & Schools

These scholar-athletes, representing football-playing high schools in the Baltimore metropolitan area, are selected by their respective schools primarily for their ability on the football field and in the classroom. Other factors taken into consideration include extracurricular activities, leadership, and community and church activities.

Every football-playing high school in Baltimore City and Anne Arundel, Harford, Howard, Carroll and Frederick Counties is invited to submit a nominee who best fits the aforementioned qualifications.

The Chapter’s selection committee, after careful consideration of each athlete’s qualifications, will choose one individual from our five regions, who will each receive $4,000 in scholarship support for his college education.
