2020 Scholar Athlete Awards

Region 1:

Michael Anoruo, Randallstown Rams

A two-way starter and team captain, this County All-Star  and member of the BTC All-Star teams ranks number four in his class and is a member of the National Honor Society.  Mike also runs track, plays lacrosse and tennis, is co-editor of the school’s newspaper and is Vice President of DECA.

Region 2:

Noah Hambrick, Parkville Knights

A team captain and first team All-Metro selection, this former team MVP is a Top 10% ranked student, is a member of the Junior ROTC, plays basketball, lacrosse and runs track.

Region 3:

Andrew Sotka, Glenelg Gladiators

A BTC All-Star, first team All-County selection and second team All-Metro, this Top 20% ranked student is a member of the National Honor Society, plays lacrosse, is a state champion wrestler and member of the Key Club.

Region 4:

Evan Warren, Westminster Owls

Selected first team All-Conference and All-County, this team captain ranks in the Top 5% of his class and is a member of the English, Math and National Honor Societies. He was invited to the BTC, Crab and Blue Gray All-Star Games this offseason.  A National Merit Commended Scholar, he also plays tennis and is President of the Student Government.  He will be playing football for the United States Naval Academy this fall.  

Region 5:

Peter Moore, Calvert Hall Cardinals

A first team All-Metro and All-League pick, this team captain is considered one of the top punters in the Country.  A top ranked student, he is a member of the National and German Honors Societies.  He also plays soccer and is a youth referee.  He will play football for Virginia Tech this fall.

Regions & Schools

These scholar-athletes, representing football-playing high schools in the Baltimore metropolitan area, are selected by theirrespective schools primarily for their ability on the football field and in the classroom. Other factors taken into consideration include extracurricular activities, leadership, and community and church activities.

Every football-playing high school in Baltimore City and Anne Arundel, Harford, Howard, Carroll and Frederick Counties is invited to submit a nominee who best fits the aforementioned qualifications.

The Chapter’s selection committee, after careful consideration of each athlete’s qualifications, will choose one individual from our five regions, who will each receive $4,000 in scholarship support for his college education.

Region II: Aberdeen, Baltimore Polytechnic, Bel Air, C. Milton Wright, Catonsville, City College, Digital Harbor, Dulaney, Dundalk,

Edgewood, Fallston, Franklin, Frederick Douglass, Harford Tech, Havre de Grace, Joppatowne, Kenwood, Lansdowne, Milford Mill,

Mergenthaler Vo-Tech, North Harford, Parkville, Patapsco, Patterson Mill, Perry Hall, Woodlawn

Region III: Annapolis, Arundel, Atholton, Broadneck, Centennial, Chesapeake (AA), Glen Burnie, Glenelg, Hammond, Howard,
